Let us reduce the amount of Epilepsy victims on Earth

Salam to all my readers & followers,

Today I would like to share with you some knowledge I have connected with the above topic. Now, not many of you know this, but I too am struggling to accept Epilepsy as part of my life. It is not easy living with this disease but through all this effects it has throughout my life, there must be a logical reason.

Anyways, let's go on with the story :
As you all know, nowadays more & more people around the world are being striked by a dangerous disease called Epilepsy, but do they actually know what Epilepsy is?

Epilepsy is a brain disorder in which clusters of nerve cells, or neurons, in the brain sometimes signal abnormally. Neurons normally generate electrochemical impulses that act on other neurons, glands, and muscles to produce human thoughts, feelings, and actions.

In epilepsy, the normal pattern of neuronal activity becomes disturbed, causing strange sensations, emotions, and behavior, or sometimes convulsions, muscle spasms, and loss of consciousness known as epileptic seizures. The condition is, therefore, sometimes referred to as a seizure disorder. It affects people in all nations and of all races.

During a seizure, neurons may fire as many as 500 times a second, much faster than the normal rate of about 80 times a second. In some people, this happens only occasionally; for others, it may happen up to hundreds of times a day.

An advice that I would like to share amongst you all is to take action immediately if any of the common symptoms attack you yourself or one of your family members. Some examples of the common symptoms are :
~"Blackouts" or periods of confused memory.
~Episodes of staring or unexplained periods of unresponsiveness.
~Involuntary movement of arms and legs.
~"Fainting spells" with incontinence or followed by excessive fatigue.
~Odd sounds, distorted perceptions, or episodic feelings of fear that cannot be explained.

Moreover, (important actions that should be taken by the victim) to avoid this disease from attacking repeatedly, are :
~Eat your medication on time as told by your doctor.
~Take a balanced diet (this plays an important role in your life. The balanced diet contains a balance amount of all nutrients which keep your brain fit and working properly. It leads to proper development of the nervous system).
~When you feel that the disease is about to strike, quickly move yourself to a safe area (an area with no harmful objects surrounding it).
On the other hand, the people surrounding the victim when he/she is attacked should take immediate action like :
~Aid breathing by gently placing them in the recovery position once the jerking movements have stopped.
~Be calmly reassuring.
~Cushion their head.
~Protect the person from injury (remove harmful objects from nearby).
~Stay with the person until recovery is complete.

That's all for now. Hopefully by sharing some facts on the topic mentioned above, the number of people diagnosed with this disease & their family members will live an easier life than before.
